Monza Engine Jerking Check Engine Light
Summary of the thread
A 2020 Chevrolet Monza is experiencing uneven running, jerking during acceleration, and an illuminated check engine light at 211,956 km. Possible causes include issues with the timing belt, fuel injectors, air filter, ignition coil, or an engine misfire. A hissing noise and decreased fuel economy suggest an exhaust system leak, which was a similar issue resolved by another owner. It is recommended to have the exhaust system checked at a workshop.
Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Yeah, I think I can hear something like hissing under the car, especially when it's idling. And now that you mention it, the fuel economy has really dropped recently. Does that point to anything specific?

Yep, that's what I thought. In my case, it ended up being a leak in the exhaust system. Get it checked as soon as possible at the workshop. Cost me about 265€ to fix it, but it solved all the issues!

Thanks a lot for the insight! An exhaust leak makes a lot of sense given the symptoms. I'll get it checked out at the workshop and hopefully, that'll be the end of it.

Whoa, that sounds familiar! I had almost the exact same thing happening with my Monza. Check engine light, the jerking... it was a nightmare. Does it sound like it's coming from somewhere under the car? Did you notice any changes in your fuel economy?
