Mustang Tire Pressure ABS and Steering Issues

I've got a 2000 Ford Mustang, gasoline engine, with 188515 km. Lately, the tire pressure low warning has been popping up. Along with it, the ABS lamp lights up, the steering wheel vibrates, and it takes noticeably more effort to steer. I checked the tire pressure with a tire gauge, and they seem inflated normally. Could this be a flat tire even though the pressure seems okay, or is it something else? I've been monitoring it closely.

Summary of the thread

A 2000 Ford Mustang owner reported issues with the tire pressure warning light, ABS lamp, and steering difficulties, despite normal tire pressure readings. The problem was suspected to be a flat tire or a malfunctioning tire pressure monitoring system. After consulting with another car owner who experienced similar symptoms, it was suggested that a defective tire valve might be the cause. Upon inspection at a workshop, a defective valve was confirmed as the issue, resolving the problem.

I experienced a similar issue with my 2012 BMW 3 Series. The tire pressure warning illuminated intermittently, accompanied by unusual steering behavior. My initial thought was also a flat tire, but the pressures were always within the specified range when checked. Is it possible that the tire pressure monitoring system is malfunctioning?

Interesting. Did your BMW have the same ABS and steering symptoms I'm seeing? I'm wondering if the tire monitoring could be linked to those other issues. I had thought about a potential air leak but haven't found one using a tire gauge. What was the final diagnosis for your car?

Indeed, the ABS lamp illuminated on my BMW as well, and the steering felt heavier than usual. It turned out to be a defective valve within one of the tires that was imperceptible to the naked eye and tire gauge. I suggest that you have the tire valves inspected at a workshop. I took it in and, after some diagnostics, that's what they found.

Thanks for the advice. I took it to the workshop, and it was indeed a defective valve in one of the tires, just as you suspected. The total repair cost came to 280€. Appreciate the help!
