N300 transmission issues
Summary of the thread
A 2010 Chevrolet N300 is experiencing starting issues, a check engine light, and sloppy gear shifts, with a transmission error code detected. These symptoms suggest a potential problem with the transmission's shift lock or a sensor issue within the transmission. A similar case involved a defective transmission control unit, which required professional diagnosis and repair. It is recommended to consult a mechanic to confirm the issue and explore repair options.

Thanks! Now that you mention it, getting it into park has felt a little weird lately. It almost feels like it doesn't fully engage sometimes. So, you think it's related to the shift lock? Did you also have error codes?

Definitely sounds like it. The error codes I pulled were related to the transmission control unit. In my case, the whole control unit was defective, which caused all the issues you're having. It cost around 1000€ to repair. I'd recommend getting it checked out by a professional. They'll probably need to diagnose the control unit to be sure.

Okay, that's super helpful. I appreciate you sharing your experience. I'll take it to my mechanic and mention the control unit. Hopefully, it's not as expensive as your repair! Thanks again.

Sounds familiar. I have an N300 too. I had a similar problem recently. The starting issue combined with the shift problems and error code point to a potential problem with the transmission's shift lock or a sensor issue within the transmission itself. Have you had trouble getting it into or out of park?
