Navara Belt Tensioner Issue
Summary of the thread
The owner of a 2020 Nissan Navara with a diesel engine reported an issue with the belt tensioner, specifically that the belt-handover no longer functions. The problem was suspected to be caused by a defective belt bringer/handover. After consulting with another party, it was suggested that the tensioner itself might have failed due to the vehicle's age and mileage. The owner confirmed this diagnosis after visiting a workshop, where the defective belt tensioner was identified and repaired.

No belt squeal and engine performance seems normal. I'm not sure how old the belt tensioner is, as I bought the car used. What would you recommend?

Given the age of the vehicle and mileage, it's likely the tensioner itself has failed. I'd suggest having a workshop take a look. It's the most probable cause given the symptoms.

Thank you for the advice. I took it to a workshop and you were right. The belt tensioner was defective. Repair cost was 455€.

Could be a few things. Is there any belt squeal? Has engine performance been affected? Check the serpentine belt and timing belt for wear. How old is the belt tensioner?
