Onix engine stalls at idle
Summary of the thread
A 2015 Chevrolet Onix is experiencing engine stalling at idle, a check engine light, and reduced power. The suspected cause is a faulty rail pressure sensor signal, as indicated by error codes. A similar issue was resolved in another vehicle by replacing the pressure sensor, suggesting that replacing the sensor in the Onix may also solve the problem. It is recommended to have the sensor replaced at a workshop to ensure proper handling and repair.

Thanks for the quick response. Yes, I checked the error codes, and it points towards the rail pressure sensor. Was your Opel Astra showing similar error codes? And did you resolve the issue by replacing the sensor?

Yes, the error codes were nearly identical. I tried cleaning the sensor first, but it didn't solve the problem permanently. Eventually, I had to replace the pressure sensor, and that fixed it. Considering your symptoms and the error code, I'd say it's highly likely that replacing the sensor will solve your problem as well. However, considering the cost and the electronic nature, I would advise you to take it to a workshop.

I appreciate the advice. I will take it to a workshop to get the sensor replaced. They quoted me around 240€ for the repair. Hopefully, this will resolve the issue. Thank you for sharing your experience.

That does sound familiar. I had a similar problem with my Opel Astra, although it was a few years older. Check engine light, stalling, the whole nine yards. In my case, it turned out to be a faulty pressure sensor as well. Did you manage to check the error codes?
