Opel Crossland air conditioning problems, does not work and is always empty

Air conditioning blows warm air

A/C System Not Engaging

Insufficient Cooling/Heating

Hello everyone, my Opel Crossland (2018, diesel) has problems with the air conditioning: insufficient cooling/heating, the A/C doesn't start and the air that comes out is warm. I suspect a defect in the air conditioning system. Has anyone had similar problems and can give me tips on what exactly it could be? And how was it fixed in the workshop? Thanks in advance!

Hi, I had a similar problem with my Opel Mokka (2016, diesel). I already have some experience with cars, so I would classify my level of knowledge as "some experience". In my case, the problem was a defect in individual valves in the air conditioning system. The garage was able to identify and rectify the fault quite quickly. I didn't have to pay anything for it as it was under warranty. Could you please provide more details about your vehicle? It would help us to help you further. Best regards,

Hi, sure, my Crossland has 218765 km on the clock and was last serviced about a month ago. Did the mechanics at your garage tell you how to recognize the defective valves? Are there any particular signs I should look out for? Thank you very much for your help! Kind regards,

Hello, ah, okay, that's quite a lot of kilometers. So, with my Mokka, the garage had said that defective valves are often noticeable by a few typical signs: 1. **Compressor does not switch on**: If the valves are defective, the compressor can sometimes be blocked, which means that the air conditioning won't even start. 2 **Noise**: Sometimes defective valves make unusual noises, such as hissing or clicking. However, it is better to leave this to a specialist, as it could be caused by other components. 3 **Unsteady cold**: If the air conditioning only cools unevenly despite activation or only warm air comes out overall, the valves could also be affected. In my case, the workshop found these faults relatively quickly by topping up the system and then checking for leaks. They often use special tools and test methods to identify such leaks or defective parts. Perhaps it would be useful to make the garage aware of these points so that they can look specifically at the valves. I hope this helps you! Kind regards,

Hello, thank you very much for the detailed answer! That gives me a good starting point. I will definitely take it up with the garage and tell them exactly what the symptoms are. I hope that it can then be rectified just as quickly as it was for you. Keep your fingers crossed! Kind regards,

I have an Opel Crossland X, 1.2 gasoline, 131CP. The problem is related to the air conditioning system. When I turn on the ventilation and AC I hear some strange noises, like a puffing noise and the system doesn't work normally. With the fan on the last gear it barely blows air inside the car. An opinion, if possible.

The puffing noise you're hearing could be due to a blockage in the air conditioning system, possibly in the blower motor or the air ducts. The reduced airflow could also be a sign of this. I would recommend starting with a simple check of the cabin air filter. If it's clogged, it could be restricting the airflow. If the filter is fine, then it's best to have a mechanic inspect the blower motor and the air ducts for any blockages. Please remember, if you're not comfortable doing these checks yourself, it's always best to have a professional do it. Let us know how it goes. Do you have any other questions?

The issue you're describing sounds like the air conditioning system is freezing up, which can be caused by a few things such as low refrigerant levels, a dirty evaporator coil, or a malfunctioning blower motor. There is typically only one cabin air filter, and it's usually located behind the glove box or under the dashboard on the passenger side. If it's clogged, it can restrict airflow and cause the system to freeze up. If the problem persists after checking the cabin air filter, I would recommend having a professional mechanic inspect the refrigerant levels and the condition of the evaporator coil. As for your question about a manufacturing problem, I'm not aware of any specific issues with the Crossland 1.5 diesel's air conditioning system. However, if multiple vehicles in your fleet are experiencing the same problem, it might be worth contacting Opel directly for support. Please keep us updated on your progress. Do you have any other questions?
