Optra parking heater malfunction
Summary of the thread
A 2017 Chevrolet Optra owner experienced a malfunction with the parking heater, which refused to activate and showed an error code. The initial suspicion was a defective glow plug. After checking the fuse and considering a temperature sensor issue, the owner sought professional help. The problem was confirmed to be a defective glow plug in the auxiliary heater, which was repaired at a local shop.

Thanks for the input! I did check the fuse, and it seems fine. A temperature sensor is an interesting idea. Where is that located, and is it easy to test? I'm trying to avoid a huge repair bill if possible, but the error memory keeps pointing towards the heater itself.

Okay, so you checked the fuse – good! Honestly, I'm not sure where the temp sensor is on your Optra, but on my Volvo, it was a real pain to get to. Given the error memory points to the heater, and you've checked the obvious stuff, my cautious advice is to get a professional opinion. These systems can be complex, and you don't want to make things worse like me. I ended up spending way more fixing my botched attempt than the original repair would have cost.

Appreciate the advice. I took it to a local shop, and you were right; it was a defective glow plug in the auxiliary heater. Cost me about 440€ to get it sorted. Thanks again for sharing your experience!

Whoa, that sounds frustrating! I had a similar problem with the auxiliary heater in my old Volvo V70. The symptoms were different - mine was blowing cold air intermittently - but the end result was the same: a malfunctioning auxiliary heater. Did you check the fuse first? It might be something simple like that. Or maybe it's a temperature sensor issue fooling the system.
