Optra Washer System Failure

I'm having a weird issue with my 2021 Chevrolet Optra (gasoline engine). The headlight cleaning system isn't working, and now the windshield washer isn't spraying either! I checked the fuses, and they seem fine. I even tried wiggling the hose connections to the pump, thinking maybe there was a loose connection, but no luck. Could it be a faulty pump, or is there something else I'm missing?

Summary of the thread

The 2021 Chevrolet Optra is experiencing a failure in both the headlight cleaning and windshield washer systems. Initial checks of fuses and hose connections did not resolve the issue. Possible causes include a faulty pump, a wiring issue, or a corroded relay. The suggested solution is to inspect the washer pump relay and connections, with a recommendation to consult a mechanic for a thorough diagnosis, which ultimately revealed a bad connection to the pump.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Dude, that sounds familiar! I had a similar problem with my Optra a while back. Does the washer pump make any noise when you try to use it? If it's totally silent, I'd lean towards either a dead pump or a wiring issue. Have you checked the relay that controls the pump? Sometimes those relays can get corroded or just fail.

Yeah, I thought about the relay too. Where is that thing located? And is there a separate relay for the headlight washers versus the windshield washers? It's just weird that they both went out at the same time.

Okay, on mine, the washer pump relay was in the under-hood fuse box, but check your owner's manual to be sure. I only had one pump and relay for both front and headlight washers (my Optra has the same setup). Honestly, though, chasing electrical gremlins can be a pain. If you're not super comfortable with a multimeter, it might be worth taking it to a trusted mechanic. They can diagnose it pretty quickly. My similar problem turned out to be a faulty pump AND a corroded connection, so it wasn't something immediately obvious.

Thanks a lot! Based on what you said, I'm going to take it to my mechanic. Sounds like it could be more than just a simple fix. Just got the quote – 165€. Apparently, it was a bad connection to the pump, like you suspected, so thanks for pointing me in the right direction!
