Orlando Key Battery Low Warning
Summary of the thread
A 2012 Chevrolet Orlando diesel displayed a 'key battery low' warning, causing keyless access issues and storing an error. The problem was likely due to a dead key fob battery. Testing with a spare key confirmed the issue, and replacing the battery resolved it. The battery replacement was straightforward, requiring no special tools or reprogramming.

Thanks for the reply. I'll try the spare key. What error codes did you get? Were they key-related or more generic? If it's the battery, is it a simple replacement, or does it need special tools or reprogramming?

The error codes were ambiguous – something about the immobilizer system and communication errors. Nothing that screamed 'key battery'. Trying the spare is the best first step. To replace the battery, you can pop the key fob open with a small screwdriver, carefully. The battery is a common button cell. You shouldn't need reprogramming after replacing it, but it's possible. A workshop can do it for about 37€.

I had something similar with my Orlando. Keyless entry became intermittent, then stopped. The car also threw some vague error codes. Have you tried the spare key? See if it works. If it does, it probably means the battery in the other key is the problem. Also check the battery contacts inside the key fob. Sometimes they corrode.
