Peugeot 301 damping adjustment fault
Summary of the thread
A 2012 Peugeot 301 diesel is experiencing a damping adjustment fault, indicated by a warning light and a bumpy ride. The suspected cause is a defective cable or plug connection. Initial suggestions include checking fuses related to the suspension system. Ultimately, a workshop diagnosis confirms a faulty connection in the damping control system, which is repaired to resolve the issue.

Thanks for the reply. It's pretty much constant, regardless of speed or road surface. Feels like the shock absorbers are just solid. I haven't checked the fuses yet, but where exactly would I find the fuse for the suspension? Is it usually labelled clearly?

Right, constant bumpiness does suggest it's not speed or road surface related, pointing more towards a fault within the system itself. The fuse box location varies slightly depending on the exact model variant, but it's usually under the dash or in the engine bay, consult your car's manual to locate it. However, with a stored error code and the light on, plus constant poor ride, it's quite likely a sensor, wiring, or even the damping control module itself. For that kind of diagnostic, I'd suggest getting it checked out by a workshop. They'll be able to pinpoint the issue accurately.

Appreciate the advice. I checked the fuses as suggested, but no luck. Took it to the workshop, and you were spot on – faulty connection in the damping control system. 95€ later and it’s sorted. Thanks again!

Hey! Damping adjustment issues can be tricky. When you say 'bumpy ride,' can you describe it more? Is it constant, or does it get worse at certain speeds or on particular road surfaces? Also, have you checked the fuses related to the suspension system? It's always good to rule out the simple stuff first.
