Peugeot 307 Overheating
Summary of the thread
A 2009 Peugeot 307 with a diesel engine is experiencing overheating issues and slow warming. The suspected cause is a defective thermostat cooling circuit motor, though other potential causes include a faulty temperature sensor, water pump, or cooling fan. A similar case pointed to the main thermostat, known as the map thermostat, as the culprit. The issue was confirmed by a workshop, and the thermostat was replaced, resolving the problem.

Thanks for the reply! When you say map thermostat, do you mean the main thermostat controlling the flow to the radiator? Any idea what sort of labour costs I should expect?

Yes, the main thermostat. In my case, it was indeed the map thermostat. Although other users advised me to check the temperature sensor. If you are not skilled in car repair, get it checked out by a workshop. It may be expensive.

Thanks! Took it to the shop as you suggested. They confirmed it was the thermostat, exactly as you said. Repair cost me 350€. Appreciate your help!

I had similar overheating problems with my 307. Those symptoms sound like the map thermostat. Like a bad tap in your house, but for engine coolant.
