Peugeot 406 Electrical Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2003 Peugeot 406 diesel is experiencing electrical issues, including a new battery acting discharged, error messages, weak lights, and slow engine cranking. The problem might be due to a low voltage fault or a bad battery sensor. A similar case suggested checking the charging system for faults that could be draining the battery. A diagnostic evaluation by a technician is recommended to identify the exact issue before replacing parts.

Yes, the battery drains rapidly, even after a full charge. Could you tell me more about what happened with yours, and how you fixed it?

Yes, exactly! I ended up taking it to a workshop. They checked the charging system and found a fault draining the battery. Best get it properly diagnosed before you spend money on new parts you might not need.

Thanks for the advice. I'll get a diagnostic evaluation from a technician. The estimated repair cost is 315€. I'll post the resolution.

I had something similar happen with my 406! The lights were dim, and it struggled to start sometimes. Does your battery seem to drain really quickly even after a good charge?
