Peugeot 806 Overheating
Summary of the thread
A 2000 Peugeot 806 is experiencing overheating issues and takes a long time to warm up, potentially indicating a faulty thermostat. The cooling fan runs excessively, suggesting possible thermostat or temperature sensor problems. A similar case was resolved by replacing the map thermostat, which is a common issue with this model. It is recommended to have the vehicle inspected at a workshop to confirm and address the problem.

The fan does seem to be running more than usual! The temp gauge seems normal though. What kind of thermostat issues did you have? Was it a pain to fix?

Exactly the same symptoms! In my case, it was the map thermostat, which I've heard is pretty common on these. Honestly, I'd suggest getting it checked out at a workshop; it's a bit fiddly to get to. I ended up paying around 350€ for the repair, but that fixed it completely. Good luck!

350€? Ouch, but good to know! I was dreading a huge engine overhaul. Thanks a lot for the info! I'll take it to a shop and get the thermostat checked out. Hopefully, that's all it is!

Sounds familiar! I've got an 806 myself and had similar issues. Was the cooling fan running constantly, even when the engine wasn't that hot? Did you also notice the temperature gauge acting a bit wonky? It might very well be the thermostat, but have you checked the temperature sensor as well?
