Peugeot iOn ABS Fault
Summary of the thread
A 2010 Peugeot iOn electric vehicle exhibited an ABS fault with traction issues, indicated by a warning lamp. Diagnostics suggested a speed signal fault, possibly from a defective ABS control unit. The problem could have been related to the ECM input from the ABS sensor or a faulty wheel speed sensor. A professional diagnosis confirmed the ABS control unit was defective, and the issue was resolved after replacement.

Thanks! Yes, by 'defective control unit' I mean the ABS control module. I've looked at the ABS sensors, and they seem okay, but I haven't done a diagnostic scan to find a specific sensor. Could a failing wheel speed sensor look like a faulty ABS control module?

It's possible for a faulty wheel speed sensor to mimic those symptoms. But, given the age and mileage, a failing ABS module wouldn't be unexpected. Before buying a new module (which can be costly), get a mechanic to do a thorough diagnostic assessment. They can read the signals from each wheel speed sensor and see if one is sending bad data. It might save money. But in the end, I would suggest to go to the workshop for diagnostics.

Thanks for the advice to get a professional diagnosis. I did, and it turns out the control unit was defective. The issue is resolved. The repair cost was 1000€.

A speed signal fault affecting the ABS and traction control on an electric Peugeot iOn is concerning. When you say 'defective control unit,' are you referring to the ABS control module itself? Have you checked the ABS sensors for damage or corrosion, or run a diagnostic scan to pinpoint the specific sensor? It's possible a faulty sensor is sending incorrect data, triggering the ABS malfunction.
