I'm writing to ask about a problem with my 2005 Nissan Platina with a gasoline engine. The check engine light is on, and I've noticed less engine power and higher fuel consumption. A scan shows a faulty exhaust temperature sensor. Could this be related to a bigger emission problem?

Thanks for the quick reply. I haven't smelled anything unusual, but I do hear a slight hissing sound when the engine is cold that goes away as it warms up. Could this mean an exhaust leak near the temperature sensor? How important is it to fix this soon, and what damage could happen if I don't?

I appreciate the advice. I took the car to a workshop, and there was a small crack in the exhaust manifold near the temperature sensor. They replaced the sensor and fixed the leak. The final cost was 265€. The car is running smoothly again. Thanks for your help!
