Headlight cleaning system without function

Thanks so much for sharing your experience! That's really helpful information. I think I'll check the fluid level first before jumping to conclusions. Hey, do you remember roughly how much you ended up paying for the pump replacement and cleaning? Also, has everything been working smoothly since the repair? Just want to get an idea of what I might be looking at cost-wise and if it's a lasting fix.
Hey there! Following up on my previous post about my Cayman's headlight washer issues. After seeing the mechanic last month, the first thing they checked was the washer fluid, which was indeed too low, that cost me 25€ to top up. But yeah, like I mentioned before, I also needed that pump replacement and line cleaning which was a separate thing. Everything's been working perfectly since getting it all sorted. The headlight washers are spraying like new now, and I haven't had any issues with the system. Trust me, it's definitely worth getting it checked out properly, these features are there for a reason, especially when you're driving at night. I'm really glad I got mine fixed when I did.
Thanks for all the details! I actually went ahead and got it checked out yesterday. You were right about getting it properly looked at. Turned out my issue was a bit different though, had a cracked washer fluid reservoir that was causing the system to leak. The mechanic spotted it pretty quickly, but man, what a pain getting the parts! Had to wait two days because they needed to order them specifically for my 997. Total bill came to around €280 including labor and parts, which honestly wasn't as bad as I was expecting for a Porsche repair. The mechanic was actually pretty decent this time, showed me exactly what was wrong and explained everything. They even threw in a free fluid top-up. All's working perfectly now, those headlight washers are spraying like they're brand new! Really appreciate everyone's input on this. Sometimes it's just worth biting the bullet and getting things fixed properly rather than trying to guess what's wrong. Lesson learned!
I had a similar issue with my 2013 Porsche Cayman last winter. First, I checked the washer fluid level, and it was indeed low. After filling it up, the regular windshield washers worked fine, but the headlight washers still didn't. Took it to my mechanic, and turns out the headlight washer pump had failed. Pretty common issue actually, the pump can get clogged or wear out over time. In my case, they had to replace the pump and clean the lines. Not a super serious repair, but definitely needed fixing since it's a safety feature, especially for night driving. Job took about 2 hours to complete. Your mileage reading is pretty close to when mine started acting up too, around 125k km.
