Presage AC failure

Hi, I'm having AC issues with my 2001 Nissan Presage diesel, with about 95,524 km on the clock. The air conditioning stopped cooling, and now it doesn't switch on. The AC warning light is on, and I've scanned a refrigerant compressor error. Could the air conditioning control unit be defective? Has anyone else experienced something similar? Any ideas before I start tearing things apart?

I own a Presage as well. I had almost identical symptoms a while back. I'm not sure if your situation is the same, but it sounds awfully familiar. Could be the AC compressor.

Did the error code you scanned also point directly to the compressor? I'm trying to narrow down whether I can try replacing the compressor first, or if I should just bite the bullet and go after the control unit.

Thanks a lot for the advice. I've taken it to a local workshop, and after diagnosis, they've confirmed it's the AC compressor. Total cost will be around 980€ including parts and labor. A bit more than I hoped, but at least I know what the issue is.
