Terminals and cables are clean. Voltage drops considerably under load, even after charging. Could a faulty sensor really cause such a noticeable drain? Is it even worth looking at the sensor or just replace the whole battery?

Yep, turned out to be a bad battery sensor. It was messing with the charging system. Probably best to get it checked at a workshop if you are not able to do it yourself.

Thanks, I appreciate the confirmation. Just got it back from the shop – faulty battery sensor it was! 315€ later and it's running perfectly again.

I had similar issues with my Primastar. Weak starts and flickering lights... Did you check the battery terminals and cables for corrosion or loose connections?
