Problem with spray nozzles freezing on BMW 7 Series (2013, diesel): Causes and suggested solutions wanted

Spray nozzles frozen

Hello, I have a strange problem with my BMW 7 Series (built in 2013, diesel). The spray nozzles are constantly freezing up and I suspect that the nozzle heating is going crazy. Have any of you had similar experiences and can help me? I would appreciate any tips, especially how you solved the problem in the workshop. Thanks in advance!

Hi, cool profile picture by the way. I had a similar problem with my BMW 5 Series (built in 2011, diesel). I'm not exactly a car professional, but I do have a bit of experience with mechanics. I took my car to the garage and they found out that the connector for the spray nozzles was not properly locked. It ended up costing me 220 euros to get it fixed. For more details, could you please tell me, have you ever had the fault memory read? Would be great if you could give me some more information about your vehicle. Hope that helps you! Best regards.

Hey, thanks for the kind words and of course for the tip! I had the fault memory read out at 137,492 km during the last service, but there was nothing conspicuous. I hadn't thought about the plug thing, maybe that could be the problem. But you know... 230 euros is no small amount just to check a stupid plug. Well, maybe it won't help any other way. Thanks again! Have a nice day!

Hello again, you're welcome! Judging by your last mileage, the fault memory might be due again by now. But I understand your point, 250 euros is not a lot just to check a plug. My BMW really blew my mind when they presented me with the bill. But you know what? It was worth it in the end, because I haven't had the problem since the repair and have been able to drive smoothly again. So maybe it's worth considering it. Maybe there's a cheaper solution - I know a garage that might fix it for less money. I can give you the address if you want. Always remember, it's better to prevent expensive damage than to pay a huge sum later. Take care and I hope I was able to help you a little. Best regards!

Hi, thanks for the offer and your helpful tips! I will definitely consider a new fault memory test. And please, yes, send me the address of the garage. I think it's worth a try, especially if it's cheaper. You're right, better to spend money now and avoid a lot of hassle and expense later. Thanks again and have a great day! Bye!

Hey Julia I had exactly the same problem with my father's 7 Series. Unfortunately, in my case it was the nozzles themselves that were defective. They were replaced and I had no more problems last winter

Servus, I also had the problem that it was really only the nozzles themselves that were defective. I would first check the fuse and then see if all the cables are still OK. If this is the case, simply replace the nozzles and see if they work again.

Hi Maxi Good that you mention the cables. I had a similar problem once. It turned out that the marten had bitten something off there.
