Problems with Peugeot 207 petrol engine 2011: Engine light, loss of power and rough running

Poor fuel economy

Loss of engine power

Jerking on acceleration

Check engine light on

Unsteady engine

Engine shuts off by itself

Hey guys, my Peugeot 207 petrol engine from 2011 has been giving me a lot of trouble recently. The engine light is on, the engine keeps cutting out, losing power and running out of round. It jerks when accelerating and also consumes more fuel than usual. I suspect that there is something wrong with the throttle potentiometer. Have any of you had similar problems and can give me tips on what I can do or throw? Especially if you have had it fixed in a workshop, I would like to know what your experience was like. I am grateful for any tips!

Hi, I had a similar problem with my Peugeot 308 petrol engine from 2013. I'm not a car expert, but I can tell you about my experience. I had the same symptoms as you describe. The diagnosis in my workshop then revealed: Internal mechanics of the throttle valve defective. It cost me 345 euros because the part had to be replaced. Since then, my Peugeot has been running perfectly again! To be able to help you, it would be great if you could share some information about your car. How many kilometers has it done and what exactly is the problem?

Hey, thanks for your quick reply! My Peugeot has already done 61124 kilometers. The problems mainly occur when I accelerate - it jerks really badly and just doesn't drive smoothly any more. I think I'll pay a visit to the garage. Your experience gives me a little courage. Thanks again!

No problem, always happy to help! I can empathize with you, it's really frustrating and worrying when the car doesn't run as it should. For me, it was also the case that the jerking was mainly there when accelerating - as if the car was fighting it. Given the number of kilometers, I would definitely have a mechanic look at it. The throttle potentiometer could well be the culprit, but to be sure, an accurate diagnosis is important. I'll keep my fingers crossed that it's nothing too serious and that you'll soon be able to ride again without any worries. Keep us up to date. Have a safe journey!

Hey, you can say that again, totally frustrating! But thanks for the encouraging words. I think I'll take it to the garage in the next few days and get it checked out. From your description, the throttle potentiometer could really be the problem. I hope it can be fixed quickly and easily. I'll keep you up to date in any case. Thanks again and have a safe journey!
