Problems with Seat Altea (2017): Parking aid malfunction and electrical faults

General electric malfunction

Warning light in the speedometer of the vehicle

Fault stored

Park distance control without function

Hi everyone, I have a problem with my Seat Altea (built in 2017, petrol engine). The parking aid no longer works and I have general electrical faults, error messages and also a warning light in the speedometer. I think the functional restriction of the parking aid could be the culprit. Has anyone had similar experiences and been able to get the problem solved at the garage? I would be interested to know how you solved it. Thanks in advance!

Hi, I've had similar experiences with my Seat Leon (2015, diesel). And your problem sounds a lot like a fault in the parking aid control unit, just like mine. I don't consider myself a car expert, but I have some experience with such problems. After several warning lights and error messages, I took my car to the garage. The diagnosis was a defective control unit for the parking aid. The repair cost me 355 euros. After that, everything was fine again. If you give me more information about your car, I might be able to help you more precisely. Check whether it has similar symptoms to my Leon back then. Just in case, hope that helps!

Hi, thanks for your help! That sounds a lot like my problem. My Altea now has 44050km on the clock and had its last service recently. Based on your description, it really does seem to be the control unit. I'll take your advice and visit the garage. The cost is of course annoying, but if it helps, it's worth it. Cheers!

Hey, no problem, that's what we're here for. Your car doesn't seem to have run that much yet. My Leon already had almost 60,000 km on it when this happened. Maybe you're lucky after all and it's something less complicated. But I can only advise you to have it checked as soon as possible! In my case, it went from an annoying warning light to a car that was no longer usable within a few days. I'll keep my fingers crossed that it doesn't get that far for you and that the costs remain manageable! Let us know what it was in the end. Let's stay in touch in any case!

Hey, thank you! Yes, you're right, I'd better play it safe and check the whole thing out. Sure, I'll let you know as soon as I know more. Hopefully it's nothing too serious. I'm glad to hear that I'm not alone with my problem. Thanks again for your advice! We'll stay in touch. See you then!
