Problems with the electric windows on the Renault Clio Diesel 2010

Fault stored

Power windows malfunction

Hi guys, I have a problem with my Renault Clio Diesel, built in 2010. The electric windows are not working properly and an error has been stored. I had the thought that the programming of the window regulator may not have worked. Do you have any experience with such problems? How did you proceed at your garage and what was done there? Many thanks for your tips!

Hello, I have a low level of experience with cars, but I had a similar problem with my Renault Megane, built in 2008. I was constantly recording errors with the vehicle electronics, and in the end it turned out that replacing the vehicle battery was the solution. It cost me 290 euros. I would recommend having your battery checked as it can often be the cause of such malfunctions. But to give you more details, I need more information. What exactly is wrong with the windows? Have they been newly installed or are the problems just occurring? I hope this information helps you a little.

Hey, thanks for your tips! After you told me about the battery, that comes to mind too. However, I just had my car serviced a few weeks ago and the mileage is now at 143110 km. But nobody mentioned anything about the battery... Regarding the windows: they do go up and down, but not all the time. Sometimes they just stop in the middle and I have to press the switch several times. New window regulators have not been fitted. The fault just appeared out of nowhere. I don't have the money for a repair right now, so I'm hoping it's something I can solve myself. Any other tips are welcome!

Hello again, hm, your description really sounds like a more complicated problem. It's really stupid that the windows sometimes stop in the middle, I can imagine how annoying that must be. It could be a problem with the power window motor or an electronic fault that could come from the power window module or the relay circuit. As you have the 2008 Renault Megane, as I do, I can tell you that I had a similar fault recently. I went to a garage and they told me that the window sometimes doesn't learn properly and therefore sometimes stops in the middle. They did the "teach-in" again and then everything worked again. It cost me 70 euros. But since you're short of money right now, here's a do-it-yourself tip: try disconnecting the battery from the car, wait a few minutes and then reconnect it. Sometimes this could clear the fault memory and the window regulator module could restart. A mechanic once told me this. Give it a try, maybe you'll have luck. But let us know if it helps! Good luck!

Hello, thank you very much for your detailed answer and help! From what you say, the problem could really be the window motor. And the tip about the battery sounds logical to me and is easy to implement, I'll give it a try. And if that doesn't work and I have to take the car to the garage, at least now I have something to go on and can express myself a bit better to the mechanic. I'll let you know if there's any news or if it works. Thanks again, I really appreciate it!
