Problems with warning lights and active hood on a 2014 Mini Cooper Diesel

Airbag warning light

Warning light in the speedometer of the vehicle

Dear community, I have a problem with my 2014 Mini Cooper Diesel. Recently, I've noticed that some warning lights have come on, especially the warning light in the speedometer and the airbag warning light. I have a hunch that it might be a malfunction of the active hood, but I'm not sure. Have any of you ever had something like this and can give me some tips? I would like to know how your problem was solved in the workshop and what your experiences were. Thanks in advance!

Hi, I had a similar problem with my 2012 Mini One Diesel. I'm not a mechanic, but I have some experience with cars. At my garage, it turned out that the acceleration sensor was faulty. It was repaired for 315 euros and everything has been running smoothly ever since. To be able to help you better, I would like to know if you noticed any specific symptoms before the warning lights started flashing? For example, did you notice a strange noise in the engine compartment or did the car react strangely when you accelerated? Every little bit of information can be helpful to better assess the problem.

Hey, thanks for the quick reply! Before the warning lights started flashing, I actually noticed a bit of a strange noise when accelerating, sort of a jerking noise. The problem occurred when my Mini had around 75,000 km. However, my last service was just recently and everything seemed to be fine. Do you have any idea what it could be? Maybe someone else here has had similar experiences.

Hey, no problem, always happy to help! So, this jerking when accelerating could definitely be an indication. In my case, these strange noises occurred shortly before the warning lights came on. It could well be that your acceleration sensor is broken, like mine. It's really best if you go back to your garage and tell them exactly what you've noticed - including the jerking. They can then check more precisely whether it really is the sensor or something else. Hope that helps you! Fingers crossed that the damage isn't too bad and that the repair progresses quickly. Feel free to give us an update here on what comes out. Good luck!

Hello again! The noises and jerking could actually be due to the acceleration sensor. I think I'll follow your advice and go straight to the garage. It's probably the best idea to have them check the noises and jerking directly. Thanks for your tips! I'll keep you posted on what comes out of it. Take care and thanks again!
