Rogue Hybrid rough start poor fuel economy

Hey, I'm having a weird issue with my 2019 Nissan Rogue Hybrid. It's got about 106k kilometers on it. Lately, it's been starting rough, like it's struggling to get going. My fuel economy has tanked, and the engine feels like it's lost some power. It idles really rough, almost like it wants to stall, and sometimes it actually does. I suspect the injection nozzles are clogged, does anybody know if it's a common issue?

Summary of the thread

A 2019 Nissan Rogue Hybrid with 106,000 kilometers is experiencing rough starts, poor fuel economy, and power loss, with the engine idling roughly and occasionally stalling. The suspected cause is clogged or defective injection nozzles, a common issue that can lead to misfires. The recommended solution is to have a mechanic diagnose and repair the injection system, which resolved the problem in this case. Using a fuel injection system cleaner might help prevent similar issues in the future.

I have a Rogue too, though not a hybrid, and those symptoms sound awfully familiar. Rough start, poor fuel economy, loss of power... It could well be dirty injectors causing misfires. Have you checked for any error codes?

Yeah, it does sound like misfires. I haven't checked for codes yet, been meaning to get a scanner. But tell me more about your experience – did you have all the same symptoms, and what ended up being the problem?

Indeed, all those symptoms were present. The issue was definitively located within the injection system. Considering the potential hassle and the precision required, especially with a hybrid engine, I'd recommend a visit to a trusted mechanic. They'll be able to diagnose the issue accurately and advise on the best course of action.

Thanks so much for the insight! It really helped point me in the right direction. I took it to my mechanic, and after a thorough check, it turned out one of the injection nozzles was defective. The repair cost me about 515€, but now the engine runs smoothly again. I guess, prevention would have been a fuel injection system cleaner. I'll keep that in mind for the next time. Cheers!
