Sail Diesel Overheating
Summary of the thread
A 2014 Chevy Sail diesel with 97,000 km is experiencing overheating and delayed engine warming. The primary suspicion is a faulty thermostat, which regulates engine temperature and can cause these issues if stuck. The recommendation is to have the thermostat and its housing checked by a professional, as confirmed by a workshop diagnosis.

Yeah, it's pretty bad. It still blows cold air even after a pretty long drive, like you said! So you think it's definitely the thermostat and not something else?

Okay, blowing cold air after a long drive pretty much confirms it. While I can't say 100% without looking at it myself, based on your symptoms, it REALLY sounds like your thermostat is faulty. Especially if it's not warming up even after a good 20 minutes. It could be a stuck thermostat. I'd suggest taking it to a workshop and have them check the thermostat and the thermostat housing. It's not something I'd mess with myself unless you're super comfortable working on cars.

Thanks so much for the advice! I'll take it to the shop first thing tomorrow. They confirmed your suspicion - it was the thermostat. Repair cost me 350€! Thanks again, I appreciate it!

Dude, overheating is BAD. I had something similar happen with my Sail (don't remember the year exactly). Overheating can seriously mess up your engine if you don't get it fixed quick. When you say 'taking forever to warm up', how long are we talking? Like, is it still cold after a 20-minute drive? If so, yeah, sounds like the thermostat isn't closing properly. A thermostat is a valve that regulates the engine temperature. If it fails, it can cause all sorts of issues.
