Thanks for the reply! The engine noise seems worse at lower RPMs, especially when starting up. And yeah, I definitely feel some vibrations, especially through the steering wheel. Does that sound like what you experienced? What did you end up doing to fix it?

Yep, that's exactly what I had! Honestly, I wouldn't mess with it too much yourself unless you're really confident with belt drives. Those tensioners can be tricky, and if the belt snaps, you're looking at a much bigger problem. I ended up taking mine to a workshop. It was definitely the belt tensioner, and it's probably best to get it sorted professionally. Trust me!

Okay, that's really helpful to know! I was hoping it might be a simple fix, but I guess I'll bite the bullet and take it to the workshop. Thanks for confirming my suspicions! Just got a quote of 455€ - ouch! But at least it should be sorted properly.

Hey there! I drive a Scenic too, and that sounds awfully familiar. I had a similar issue a while back. Was the engine noise constant, or did it only happen at certain RPMs? And did you notice any vibrations along with the squealing?
