Seat Alhambra Diesel Engine Issues
Summary of the thread
A 2018 Seat Alhambra with a diesel engine is experiencing issues such as a check engine light, reduced power, poor engine response, whistling and hissing noises, stalling at idle, and increased fuel consumption. These symptoms suggest a potential boost leak, possibly due to a faulty boost pressure actuator or an electrical bypass valve. The recommended solution is to have a professional mechanic diagnose and repair the issue, which in this case, involved replacing the defective electrical bypass valve, resolving the problem.

Thanks for the quick response! A boost leak makes sense. Any tips on how to pinpoint the exact location, or should I just take it to a mechanic?

Those symptoms match what I experienced. Trying to find the leak yourself can be difficult without the right tools. If you're not comfortable fiddling with the turbo wastegate or pressure sensor, I'd recommend getting it checked by a professional. It's probably the electrical bypass valve, but better safe than sorry. Get the pressure sensor checked too. Save yourself the hassle and potential for making things worse.

Took it to the shop, and you were right. The electrical bypass valve was defective. A new one was fitted, and the total cost came to 250€. It runs perfectly now, the boost pressure actuator fault is gone. Thanks for the help!

Sounds like a boost leak. I had a similar issue with my old Renault Megane. Check engine light, power loss, the whole deal. The whistling and hissing point towards a leak. It could be a faulty boost pressure sensor or the turbo wastegate. It's like trying to blow up a balloon with a hole in it - you'll hear the air escaping and won't get the full effect.
