Seeking Advice for Addressing Engine Issues and Poor Fuel Economy in a 2020 Dacia Lodgy with Gasoline Engine
Summary of the thread
A 2020 Dacia Lodgy with a gasoline engine is experiencing black smoke from the exhaust, a check engine light, engine shutdowns, power loss, unsteady performance, jerking during acceleration, poor fuel economy, a strong exhaust smell, and stalling while idle. These issues may be related to the injection system, possibly due to a defective injector. It is advised to have the vehicle inspected by a professional mechanic to confirm the diagnosis and address the problem.

Hey there, thanks for the quick reply! My Lodgy is an automatic. It's at 46487 KM km right now. Got the last service done at 40k, the usual routine stuff. They didn't mention anything about the injectors. Anyway, appreciate the advice. I'll have it looked over in the garage soon and see if it turns out as you said. Keep you posted!

Hi again! An automatic at near 50k, got it. Seems it's been a bit since your last service then. Yeah, surprisingly the injector problems don't always get tackled during routine check-ups unless there's a significant issue. Just remember, it's not guaranteed to be the exact same problem that I faced with my Duster, but the symptoms do sound startlingly alike. Having it checked by a pro will clear up any doubt. Let's hope it's the injector issue and nothing more serious. Trust me, it's a lot friendlier on the wallet. All the best with the garage visit and do keep us updated. Cheers!

Gotcha! I understand it may not be the exact same issue, but it's good to have a solid lead. I'll definitely have it checked out by a mechanic soon, fingers crossed it's an easy fix. And yeah, I wouldn't want to burn a hole in my pocket, either! You've been a great help, I'll make sure to update you all on what happens. Thanks a ton! Drive safe!

Hey there, sounds like a bumpy ride you're having with your Dacia. I had a similar scenario a while back with my 2018 Dacia Duster. I'd call myself an amateur car enthusiast with some experience to boot. Turned out it was a defective injector causing the whole ruckus. Had to take it to my trusty local garage for a good look-see. They were spot on with the diagnosis and got it sorted for me. The cost? Roughly 515 Euro all in. Just to double check though, is your Lodgy a manual or automatic tranny? And what's the current mileage looking like? That could give me, or anyone else here, a better idea to help you further. Safe driving!
