Seeking Advice on '09 Kia Cadenza AC Issues and Trustworthy Mechanic Recommendations

Air conditioning blows warm air

Insufficient Cooling/Heating

Hey guys, I've got a problem with my '09 Kia Cadenza, petrol engine, clocked about 185,378 KM. Recently, it's started to play up with the AC. It's blowing warm instead of cold air, and I've also noticed that both cooling and heating are not as efficient as they used to be. I'm thinking it could potentially be a dodgy air quality sensor, but I'd appreciate any insights or experiences you might have had with a similar issue? Also, if any of you had good experiences with mechanics for this kind of issue, I'd like to hear too. My last visit to a mechanic was not great and I'd prefer not to get ripped off this time around. Thanks a bunch!

Yo I feel ya. I got a '07 Kia Optima, and not too long ago, I had a similar problem. Turned out, weren't no sensor, but a defective line from the sensor, if you can believe that. It was messing around with the heating and cooling efficiency just like you described. So yeah, it was a serious job. They had to remove the console and dash assembly to get to it and it took them half a day. Still, it was all square after that. They didn't mess about, got the job done kinda quickly, all things considered. In my experience, most decent garages shouldn't have an issue sorting this out for you. But you know, I'm all for doing it right, so make sure they are dialed in on what's really going on first. Hope that helps bud, best of luck with getting it all sorted out.

Hey there, thanks a bunch for that insight. You've got me thinking now, it could well be a line issue in my Cadenza too. Just wonderin', do you recall how much you were out of pocket for that job? And, did anything else crop up since they fixed that line or has your AC been behaving well? Crossing my fingers this is an one-time thing and doesn't balloon into something else. Cheers for the help!

Hey there, no problem always happy to help out! So, for the work they did on my Kia, it set me back 95.00 €. That was specifically for fixing the defective line from the sensor. I was actually pretty pleased with the price tag, considering they had to take apart a fair bit of the interior. Since they did that job, I've not had any other problems. The sensor itself was a bit off before, but going through the process fixed that bad air quality sensor signal as well. My AC has been reliable and hasn't given me any grief - both cooling and heating are champ now. I truly hope this is a one-off thing for you too, fingers crossed! Let us know how it goes, alright? Cheers!

Hey, that's great to hear! You're giving me some hope here. Not gonna lie, 95.00 € sounds like a pretty sweet deal for a job like that. Half a day's work and the whole thing's squared away, can't beat that. Seriously, thanks for sharing your experience, you've been a great help! As per your suggestion, I'll make sure the mechanic properly diagnoses the problem before starting any work. And definitely, I'll keep you guys posted once it's all sorted out. Cheers for all the help and advice really appreciate it!
