Hey, sounds like you've been through the ringer with your DPF much like me with my stubborn Mazda. Did you happen to recall how much pocket-damage you had dealing with the defective DPF? And fingers crossed, no ugly head of any related problem has popped up since then, right? I mean, once you've sorted it out, it stays sorted? Cheers!
Hey, yeah I remember feeling the dent in my pocket quite well. The DPF issue cost me a cool €1550. Not really what I call loose change, if you catch my drift. But hey, once it was fixed, it surely was fixed. Haven't seen a whiff of black smoke or caught that awful scent since they took care of it. She's been running real smooth and the engine power is back to its prime. All in all, despite the cost, getting the diesel particulate filter sorted was well worth it. My advice? Don't let a few bad experiences put you off. Hit up your local mechanic the minute you can and get that beast of a Mazda back to roaring health. Good luck!
Cheers. You've been a bloody big help and your experience gives me a good idea what to expect. I'm prepared for the cost if it comes down to fixing the old DPF. I don’t want to see that disgusting black smoke again. Right now, I just want to get the gal back to her better days. Will definitely give my local mechanic a ring. Thanks for the advice. Catch you around.
Hey there, your issues sound awfully similar to what I dealt with in my 2010 Mazda CX-7 Diesel just a couple months back. I had the black smoke, the funky smell, drop in power, all of it. My check engine light kept bugging me too. Turned out my DPF was internally defective which isn't the best of news, I'll be honest. The DPF regeneration failure was all due to this. The guys at the garage had to deep dive into the filth and fix it from the inside out. Now, it's wasn't exactly a walk in the park, but theyaged to get it sorted and my Mazda's been running smoother than ever since. I gotta tell ya: if it is a faulty DPF, it's a pretty serious issue you can't overlook. Best bet is to get it to a trusted mechanic as soon as you can. Don't sweat over the last time, not all experiences are nightmares. Hoping for the best.
