Seeking Advice on Non-Working Steering Column Adjuster in 2015 Nissan Tiida

Electric steering column adjustment without function

Hey folks, I've got a 2015 Nissan Tiida with a Gasoline engine, and it's been giving me a bit of a headache. My steering column adjuster just stopped working out of the blue. I've got a hunch it might be a fault in the adjustment motor, but I don't really want to dive in blind. Has anyone else had this problem? If you did, what ended up being the cause and how did you get it sorted at the garage? Would love to hear about the fix and any nuggets of wisdom you've got! Cheers!

Hey! I had a similar situation with my 2013 Nissan Note. I've got some experience with cars, meaning I can usually figure these things out but this did throw me a bit. I took it to my local garage and after they'd had a look, turned out to be the Steering column motor cable connection that was defective. I coughed up about 155 Euro to get it sorted. It's probably best to get your Tiida checked out by a professional to avoid any damage, they should be able to pin down what's wrong. By the way, do you have any other modifications or changes in your car? That might help with giving a more accurate direction. Do you know if your car has a manual or automatic adjustment for the steering column? These details can really help. Thank God for car forums, right?!

Hey there! Seems like we're rowing the same boat, but in different models! I hope the cost for my Tiida wouldn't be as high as that for the fix. She's already run for 196931 KM, and I've always kept her stock, no crazy mods or anything. She does have a manual adjustment for the steering column, never really had issues till now. Quite the charmer, really. The last service was about a month ago. They didn't mention anything about the steering column then. Now with the adjuster not working, it's a bit of a hassle. I agree, thank heaven for forums! I do think I'd get it checked by a pro though, on your advice. Cheers for the info!

Hey again! Yeah, tell me about it. Cars will always find ways to keep us on our toes, won't they? Regarding your Tiida, I really think you're making the right call to have a professional check her out. In my experience, issues like this can be because of some strange electrical or mechanical snag that sometimes even escapes the most experienced eyes during a regular service, which could also explain why they didn't spot anything a month ago. Looking at the fact that your energetic lady has covered almost 200,000 KM, some wear and tear is just inevitable. Don't get too worked up about the cost, alright? It might even be something as simple as a quick reset or a loose connection that's gone rogue. Considering your Tiida has manual adjustment and no other mods, it's more likely to be something straightforward. So fingers crossed, hopefully, your wallet doesn't get a big jolt this time! Good luck, and do keep us posted with any updates. It always helps to keep evolving our collective car knowledge here. Cheers!

You're right! The old girl might've just hit the inevitable problem, nearly 200,000KM is quite the milestone after all! Thanks for the reassurance, nervous about the cost but ready to bite the bullet if needs be. Here's hoping it's just a pesky loose connection or something! Once I get her checked out, I'll swing by the forum with an update. Sharing is caring, ain't it? Time to confront the beast. Wish me luck and thanks again for your help! Cheers!
