Electical handbrake is not working
4 comment(s)
Hey! Thanks for the insight - really helps knowing someone else has been through a similar path. That electric motor replacement sounds a bit complicated, but I see it's worth it if it means a smooth handbrake. I wish there were more Micks around, I'm not in Doncaster unfortunately. Just out of curiosity, do you remember how much you got charged for that entire job? Also, any other problems cropped up related to that since you got it fixed? Thanks again!
Hey! I'm glad my previous experience could lend some insight. The motor replacement was indeed a bit of a task but absolutely worth it at the end of the day for a flawless handbrake operation. Unfortunately, not everyone can be as skilled and honest as Mick, right? As for the cost, it ran me to about €505.0 to get the entire thing sorted, including the new electric motor, workmanship and all. Not exactly pocket change, but it was a necessary job nonetheless. And since we're on the topic, since the handbrake fix, no other issues have cropped up related to that. My handbrake's been working as smooth as a new set of wheels. The Solid job they did fixing that defective electric motor in the brake caliper really paid off. Cheers and good luck with your Dacia!
Hey! Thanks for filling me in! It's quite pricey, but like you said, necessary for the smooth operation. Relief to know that no other related issues have cropped up for you since the fix—it's kind of reassuring. Guess I have to roll up my sleeves and get into it, can't have my car acting up forever right? Appreciate every bit of the advice! Now off to find my local Mick, wish me luck! Take care and keep those wheels running smoothly. Cheers!
Hey there, Been down that path with my 2012 Dacia Sandero. Similar issue with the electric handbrake acting funny. Tracked it down to a defective electric motor in the brake caliper. It was kind of a big job, since the part isn't as commonly replaced as other brake components. My local garage did a solid job on it. Pulled the caliper, removed and replaced the motor, two pins, the pad carrier. Gave the system a proper checkup too. They were really methodical, made sure everything worked as it should before pulling the car off the ramp. Overall, the new motor's been holding up quite well, handbrake's been smooth ever since. Sorry to hear about your garbage experience. It can be a pain finding reliable mechanics who don't rip you off. If you're around Doncaster, go see Mick at Doncaster Auto Service, he's a wizard with Dacias. Hope this helps!
