Regarding the AC noise, what kind of noise are you referring to specifically? And how would one go about checking for a refrigerant leak?

The AC noise was a faint hissing sound, almost like air escaping, which preceded the complete failure. As for the refrigerant leak, a visual inspection of the AC components and lines for oily residue is the first step. AC diagnostics should include a pressure test of the system. A faulty pressure switch could also be the culprit, though less likely given your description. Considering your mileage and symptoms, it might be best to have a workshop perform comprehensive AC maintenance.

I had a similar issue with my Octavia. The AC stopped cooling suddenly. Did you notice any unusual AC noise before it failed completely? Have you checked for any signs of a refrigerant leak?
