Skoda Octavia automatic transmission issue

I've got a bit of a headache with my 2017 Skoda Octavia gasoline engine. It's done 151892 km. The check engine light is on, and the transmission indicator is lit up too. The gearbox feels like it's slipping sometimes, and the shifts aren't clean, plus I hear grinding noises when it changes gear. Error memory points to a defective automatic transmission converter. Anyone else had something similar?

Summary of the thread

A 2017 Skoda Octavia with 151,892 km is experiencing issues with the automatic transmission, indicated by the check engine and transmission lights, along with slipping, unclean shifts, and grinding noises. The error memory suggests a defective automatic transmission converter, likely the torque converter. The suggested solution is to have the torque converter inspected and possibly replaced, as similar symptoms in another case led to the need for a new torque converter.

Sounds similar to an issue I had with my Octavia. Check engine light, weird shifting especially at higher speeds. Was like the engine was surging. I'd get it checked for a converter fault in the auto transmission. Have you had the transmission fluid changed recently?

Engine surge, yeah that's a good way to describe it! The garage mentioned something about a torque converter lock-up clutch. Is that the same thing? Transmission fluid was changed about 60000 km ago, so not recently no.

Lock-up clutch, torque converter, yeah it's all related. If the error memory is pointing to it, and you're getting those symptoms, it does sound like converter failure. Considering the mileage and the symptoms, it's probably worth getting a professional opinion. I ended up needing a new torque converter, the slipping and grinding were only going to get worse.

Took it to the workshop, and you were spot on. It's the torque converter. Costing me 2120€ to get it sorted. Thanks for the heads up!
