Skoda Octavia Electronic Parking Brake Problem

I am experiencing a problem with the electronic parking brake on my 2015 Skoda Octavia with a gasoline engine. The electronic handbrake is non-functional, and there is an error stored in the error memory, along with a warning light on the speedometer. I suspect it might be a defective electric motor in the brake calliper. Has anyone encountered a similar issue? I am trying to understand the likely cause before I take it to a workshop.

Sounds like a similar issue I had with my Octavia. I'd check the brake switch and brake sensor first. Have you had any issues with the ABS warning light as well?

Thanks for the quick reply. I haven't noticed any issues with the ABS light, just the parking brake warning. Where exactly is the brake sensor located, and is it difficult to access?

If it's only the parking brake light, then it probably is the calliper motor. The sensor is integrated. You could try checking the wiring to the calliper, but honestly, it sounds like you need a new motor, or even the whole calliper. I would suggest getting it checked out at a workshop.

I took it to a workshop, and they confirmed the electric motor in the brake calliper was defective. The repair cost came to about 505€. It's sorted now.
