Skoda Praktik Bluetooth Microphone Problem

I'm writing about a problem I've recently encountered with my 2007 Skoda Praktik, which has a diesel engine. The vehicle has approximately 52200 km on the odometer. The issue is the hands-free microphone. Telephony is no longer possible, and I've found an error stored in the error memory. I suspect the infotainment system may be defective, leading to a rather expensive microphone repair. Has anyone experienced a similar Bluetooth issue, and what steps did you take to resolve it?

Summary of the thread

A 2007 Skoda Praktik owner encountered a problem with the hands-free microphone, rendering telephony impossible and storing an error in the system. The issue was suspected to be a defective infotainment system, affecting both the microphone and speech recognition. After consulting with others and checking settings, the problem was confirmed by a workshop to be the infotainment system, which required replacement to restore functionality.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

I also own a Skoda Praktik and I recall encountering a similar issue with the Bluetooth connection and the microphone some time ago. I noticed that when making calls, the other person couldn't hear me clearly, or sometimes not at all. Have you tried checking the audio system settings to see if there's anything related to ambient noise cancellation that might be interfering? Also, is the speech recognition working, or is that also affected? It might be worth checking the basics before assuming the worst.

Thank you for your reply. I have checked the audio system settings, but I couldn't find anything specific about ambient noise cancellation. I have noticed that speech recognition is also not working. When I try to use it, it doesn't recognize any voice input. What was the solution in your case? Did you have to replace any parts?

Yes, the symptoms you describe are very similar to what I experienced. Unfortunately, in my case, it did turn out to be a problem with the infotainment system itself. While there might be other potential causes, given the error code and the fact that both the microphone and speech recognition are affected, it does seem likely that the infotainment system is the culprit. I would recommend taking it to a qualified workshop for a proper diagnosis. They should be able to confirm the issue and provide you with a repair estimate.

Just reporting back for anyone else with a similar problem. The workshop confirmed the infotainment system was faulty. After replacement, the hands-free system works perfectly. The total cost was 815€, a bit of a blow, but at least I can make calls from the car again. Thanks for the help!
