Skyline check engine light air valve
Summary of the thread
A 2003 Nissan Skyline owner is experiencing a persistent check engine light issue, suspecting a problem with the air valve or a vacuum leak in the hose connecting the pump to the valve. A similar case suggests that a defective hose connection, often due to brittleness over time, can cause a vacuum leak and trigger the check engine light. The recommended solution is to inspect and potentially replace the hose, with professional diagnostics advised for accurate identification and repair.

Thanks for the tip! How did you figure out it was the hose? Was the error code specifically pointing to the air valve?

The code was related to air intake, so I started checking all the hoses. The connection to the air valve was cracked. Honestly, it's a pretty common issue. Unless you're super confident, I'd say take it to a workshop. They'll diagnose it properly.

Thanks a bunch! Took your advice and went to a shop. You nailed it – hose to the air valve was the culprit. Cost me 175€ to get it sorted. Much appreciated!

I had something similar happen on my Skyline. Check the air supply – could be a defective hose connection from the pump to the valve. Those hoses get brittle over time and can cause a vacuum leak, triggering the check engine light. Essentially, if the engine isn't getting the correct amount of air, the check engine light is triggered. What error code are you getting?
