Sonic boost pressure loss

I have a 2014 Chevrolet Sonic gasoline with about 177k kilometers on it. The check engine light is on, and the engine power is noticeably reduced. Response is poor, and fuel consumption is up. I suspect a boost pressure control fault. Anyone else experienced this?

Summary of the thread

A 2014 Chevrolet Sonic is experiencing reduced engine power, poor response, and increased fuel consumption, with the check engine light on. The suspected issue is a boost pressure control fault. A similar case was resolved by identifying a faulty vacuum switching valve, which was confirmed by a mechanic and repaired.

I had a similar issue with my Sonic, though I can't remember the exact year. Sounds like a pressure drop somewhere. Have you checked for any obvious vacuum leaks around the intake manifold or any of the pressure sensors?

Vacuum leaks, huh? I haven't specifically checked for those. Where should I start looking, and what am I looking for exactly?

Yeah, that was my problem. It ended up being a faulty vacuum switching valve. Honestly, unless you're really comfortable with diagnostics, I'd suggest taking it to a workshop. They'll be able to properly test the system and pinpoint the issue.

Thanks for the insight. I took it to a mechanic, and you were spot on – a faulty vacuum switching valve. Repair cost was about 140€. Appreciate the help!
