Suburban power windows after battery replacement
Summary of the thread
After replacing the battery in a 2018 Chevrolet Suburban, the power windows stopped working, and an error indicated a problem with the window regulator initialization. A basic reset attempt by holding the window switch did not resolve the issue. It was suggested that the problem might require professional diagnostic tools for proper initialization. Ultimately, a workshop confirmed the need for re-initialization using specialized equipment, which resolved the issue.
Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Thanks! I tried holding the window switch up and down, but it didn't fix it. Is there a specific procedure for the 'window regulator initialization' that I can try, or do I need special equipment?

Okay, you've tried the basic reset. Since you are seeing an error, and the simple reset didn't work, it's likely a deeper issue. It might be a CAN bus problem or the regulator itself. I'd suggest taking it to a workshop. They'll have the tools to properly diagnose and initialize the window regulators. Could be a bad window motor, but troubleshooting is key.

Thanks for the advice. I went to a local workshop and they said the window regulator needed to be re-initialized using their diagnostic tools. The repair cost me 290€. I appreciate you pointing me in the right direction!

Sounds like the window motor lost its settings. Did you try the window controls after replacing the battery? Sometimes they need to be reset. Try holding the window switch in the up position for a few seconds after the window is fully closed, and then the down position after fully open.
