Tahoe immobilizer issue
Summary of the thread
A 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe with a diesel engine experienced starting issues, with the engine either not starting or cutting out immediately. An error related to the immobilizer was identified, suggesting a potential problem with key programming. The security light staying on indicated a possible issue with the anti-theft system recognizing the key signal. The problem was resolved by taking the vehicle to a workshop, where incorrect key programming was confirmed and corrected, restoring normal function.

Thanks for the quick response! Yes, the security light does stay on. Is it possible to reprogram the key myself, or do I need special tools? Also, can you give me more details about your issue back then?

Honestly, I wouldn't mess with it myself. It's tricky. My experience mirrors yours pretty closely, it's definitely sounding like that immobilizer fault. In the end, I took it to a workshop.

Thanks, I appreciate the advice. I took it to a workshop and they confirmed it was incorrect key programming. The repair cost was about 45€, which was a relief. Now it's running smoothly again.

I had a similar issue with my Tahoe, though it was a while back. Does the security light stay on when you try to start it? It could be a problem with the anti-theft system recognizing your key signal.
