Toyota iQ Diesel Engine Problems
Summary of the thread
A 2011 Toyota iQ diesel is experiencing issues with the check engine light, reduced engine power, poor engine response, and increased fuel consumption. The problem is suspected to be related to a faulty manifold pressure sensor or a vacuum leak around the intake manifold. After investigation and repair, it was confirmed that the manifold pressure sensor was the cause, and replacing it resolved the issues.

Vacuum leaks... I haven't specifically checked for those, but I'll investigate. Could a faulty manifold pressure sensor cause such a problem? I have 81329 km on the clock and I'm trying to pinpoint the reason.

Yes, a faulty manifold pressure sensor is a prime suspect with those symptoms and the vacuum leak points towards that. A garage visit and sensor replacement are unfortunately probably in your near future...

Thank you for the insight; I appreciate you confirming my suspicions. As it turned out, it was indeed the manifold pressure sensor. After repair I had to pay 235€. I hope this thread may help others facing the same issue.

Sounds like a faulty sensor to me. I had similar symptoms with my iQ, though it was slightly different. Have you checked for any vacuum leaks around the intake manifold? A large vacuum leak can definitely cause those issues.
