Trafic rear ventilation flap fault

I'm having trouble with my 2004 Renault Trafic with a gasoline engine. I'm getting an error related to the rear ventilation flap. The climate control unit seems to be malfunctioning, and the air conditioning isn't cooling like it should. I suspect it might be a defective cable or plug connection, but I'm not sure where to start looking. Has anyone experienced something similar?

The problem is suspected to be a defective cable or plug connection. Hey there! I also have a Trafic, and your symptoms sound awfully familiar. I had a similar issue with my air circulation. The error memory kept logging a fault, and the air distribution was all messed up. It turned out to be a problem with the rear ventilation flap's connection. Was the automatic climate acting up as well?

Yes, exactly! The automatic climate is all over the place. Sometimes it blows hot air when it should be cold, and vice versa. Where exactly did you find the faulty connection? Was it easy to access?

Okay, so it's almost certainly the same issue. To be honest, I wasn't able to fix it myself. The location of the connection is quite tricky to get to without the right tools. I ended up taking it to a workshop. They diagnosed it as a defective plug connection on the rear ventilation flap motor. Cost me around 95€ including diagnostics. I'd recommend getting it checked professionally, especially if you're not comfortable with HVAC system diagnostics.

Thanks so much for the advice! I suspected it might be something like that. I'll book it in with a workshop and mention the rear ventilation flap connection. Hopefully, it's a quick and easy fix for them. I appreciate the help!
