Urvan Weak Battery and Flickering Lights
Summary of the thread
A 2013 Nissan Urvan with a gasoline engine is experiencing a weak battery and flickering lights, particularly at idle. The issue is suspected to be a faulty battery sensor, which can affect the alternator's charging output. It is suggested to check the battery voltage with a multimeter to confirm if the sensor is causing low voltage. Ultimately, a workshop confirmed the problem as a faulty battery sensor, which was then repaired.

Thanks! I haven't checked the voltage with a multimeter yet, but I will. Would an error code reader show the battery sensor?

It's hard to say if a generic reader would specifically pinpoint the battery sensor. It might just show a 'low voltage' or 'charging system malfunction' error. The flickering lights really sound like the charging system, and maybe the sensor, needs a check. I'd suggest a shop with good diagnostic equipment to look at it.

Thanks for the advice. I took it to a workshop, and they confirmed it was a faulty battery sensor, like I thought. The repair cost 315€, including parts and labor. Thanks again for the help!

I had similar issues on my Urvan. Have you checked the battery voltage with a multimeter while the engine is running? A faulty battery sensor can mess with the alternator's charging output. If the voltage is low, like below 13.5V, that points to the sensor. Is the voltage regulator part of the alternator or controlled by the ECU on these?
