Wingroad Fog Sensor Issue

Hey, I've got a weird problem with my 2010 Nissan Wingroad diesel. The fog sensor is throwing an error, and it seems to be messing with other stuff. AC won't kick on, windshield sprayers are frozen, and the mirror heating is dead. I'm guessing it's a bad cable or plug to the sensor. Any ideas?

Summary of the thread

A 2010 Nissan Wingroad diesel is experiencing issues with the fog sensor, affecting the AC, windshield sprayers, and mirror heating. The problem may be due to a faulty cable or plug connected to the sensor. A similar issue in another vehicle was resolved by addressing a faulty ambient temperature sensor and checking for loose connections or corrosion on the wiring and connectors. It is suggested to inspect these components and consider professional diagnosis for a comprehensive solution.

Sounds familiar. I had almost the exact same symptoms on my Opel Astra, though it was petrol. Climate control was acting up, heated mirrors were dead, even the rear window heating wasn't working right. Turned out to be a faulty ambient temperature sensor, which also messed with the fog detection. Have you checked the wiring and connectors to the sensor? Loose connections or corrosion can cause it.

Thanks! What should I be looking for with the wiring and connectors? How do I spot corrosion, and how do I make sure the connection is solid? Did you get any specific error codes with your Astra that might match my Wingroad?

On my Astra, the corrosion looked like greenish stuff on the connector pins. I disconnected the battery and carefully cleaned it with contact cleaner. The error code was something about the ambient temperature sensor circuit being out of range. Honestly, you should probably get the Wingroad diagnosed professionally to be sure, there might be more to it. My repair bill was around what you mentioned, so I'd recommend just going to the workshop.

Thanks for the advice! I'll check the connectors for corrosion and make sure they're tight. But you're right, it's probably best to take it to a shop. The error code info helps too.
