I haven't checked the antenna ground specifically, but the antenna itself seems okay. Could it really be the ground causing complete signal loss? Is there a common spot where these grounds fail?

Indeed, a compromised antenna ground can manifest as a total signal loss. Although I am unable to provide specific locations for grounding points on your particular vehicle, it may be prudent to seek the counsel of a qualified technician. Diagnosis utilizing specialized equipment may be required to ascertain the precise nature of the issue.

Thanks for the advice. It turned out to be a defective antenna. The workshop confirmed it with their diagnostic tools. Replacement including labor cost 255€, now it is working fine again.

I experienced comparable symptoms with my 106. As an initial step, have you verified the integrity of the antenna ground connection? Inadequate grounding can induce significant radio interference, potentially culminating in compromised FM signal reception.
