Hey there! Wow, your experience with the Peugeot 407 seems eerily similar to what I'm going through with my 806, especially with the sounds and the black smoke. So it was the ECU causing the ruckus, huh? Hmm, I guess I'll have to get that checked out as well then. That's solid advice, my and I greatly appreciate it! I will definitely take your word and get the ECU evaluated by a mechanic I can trust before considering other issues. Do you remember how hard the hit to your wallet was when you got the ECU re-programmed? And also, since getting the fix, did your car have any other issues unexpectedly crop up? Hope all's been smooth for you since then! Cheers!

Hey there! Truly appreciated your comments on my experience with the 407! When it came to reprogramming the ECU, it wasn't particularly pleasant to my wallet, ended up costing me a cool 1000.0€ to fix that bugger. Yep, you heard it right! It sure did sting a bit. With regards to your other question about acting up post-fix, lucky for me, the old girl has been running smooth as silk. And oh, the charge air temperature sensor you originally suspected? Fixed that too when I went in, just one of those 'while you're in there' jobs, you know? Important to remember though, every car's a bit different. Here's hoping your 806 woes turn out be something simpler and not too heavy on your pocket. All the best with it! Keep us posted on how you go. Cheers!

Hey! a 1000.0€, you weren't kidding when you said it stings! Well, I'm glad to hear that your 407 has been running smooth since then. You're right about every car being different, I suppose I should get ready for a surprise or two when I take my 806 to the mechanic. Your comment about getting the charge air temperature sensor fixed while you were in there does seem like a prudent call, considering my initial hunch about it. I guess it's best to get it sorted out for peace of mind. I'll definitely keep you fellas updated about what's going on with the old girl. Thanks a ton for sharing your experience and advice, it's been a massive help! Here's hoping the bill ain't too savage. Cross your fingers for me! Cheers!

Hey, sounds like a real headache with your 806. I've got a 2005 Peugeot 407 with somewhat similar symptoms. Persistent check engine light, hissing sounds, and a noticeable drop in power. Turns out, it was the engine control unit (ECU) on mine, not the air charge temperature sensor. Just a little background, the ECU is like the brain of the car. It oversees a range of systems in your car including emission control, fuel mixture, and engine timing. So when it's defective, it can wreak havoc across different systems. Pulse-like jerks and the drop in power can be explained by incorrect fuel mixture or ignition timing. Increased fuel consumption and black smoke may indicate over-fuelling, and the hissing and whistling you mentioned might be due to the turbocharger struggling under faulty instructions. Last time I took it to my local garage, they had to re-programme my ECU to sort it all out. Not a simple fix, but definitely solved the problem. I'd definitely advise getting the ECU evaluated by a trusted mechanic before ruling out other potential issues. Just bear in mind, if it's the same issue, it might take a bit of time to get it fixed, purely depending on the complexity. Good luck with your Peugeot! Hope you'll be back on the road soon.
