2007 Nissan Primastar Experiencing Flickering Lights and Weak Battery Startup

Weak battery when starting the engine

Dim or flickering lights

Hello everyone! Lately, I've been having a bit of trouble with my 2007 Nissan Primastar (gas engine, 136212 KM). The lights are either going dim or flickering, plus the battery seems weak when firing up. I've got a hunch that this might be an issue with the vehicle battery sensor. Had a bit of a nightmare last time I went to my local mechanic so would love to hear from you guys first! Anyone experienced something similar? How was your experience with your mechanic? Do share your wisdom! Thanks in advance!

Hey there, Ran into a nearly parallel issue with my 2010 Nissan Qashqai. Lights flickering, engine straining to fire up, you name it. Turned out to be a defective battery sensor microprocessor, much like you suspected in your case. Paid a visit to my trusted mechanic last time around and he identified the problem right away. A bit complicated than regular issues as it deals with the electrical system. However, not to scare you but highlighting this because such issues need to be dealt in time to save the battery and electrical system from bigger damage. In all honestly, the garage experience was rather seamless. My mechanic was thorough and explained everything clearly, making sure I understood what was happening. Thankfully, my car is now back to running like a dream, no flickering lights, and that initial start up is as smooth as butter. Hope this helps! Keep us updated. Cheers!

Hi there, Thanks so much for sharing your experience. It seems your problem was indeed quite similar to mine. Glad to hear that your Qashqai is smoothly back on track, gives me some hope! I'm a bit nervous about the complications you mentioned, dealing with the electrical system does sound ominous. But better to tackle it now than face bigger problems down the line, right? If you don't mind me asking, do you recall approxily how much you paid for the fix? Also, has anything else unexpected popped up since your mechanic sorted the issue? Look forward to your reply. Cheers!

Hello again, Yeah, I totally get that twinge of nervousness you're feeling, especially dealing with the sometimes-tempestuous electrical system, but no worries at all. As they say, prevention is better than cure, right? So, kudos to you for staying proactive with your Primastar. As for the final bill, it was approxily 315€. Seems steep, I know, but compared to the potential costs of procrastination, it's a sound investment. As for any unexpected pop-ups, after my mechanic worked his magic on the Battery sensor microprocessor, it has been plain sailing. No unpredictable lights show or dodgy start-ups, just my good ol' trustworthy Nissan! Hopefully, this brings some solace regarding your situation. Keep the updates coming! Bests!

Hi again, It's cool to see your empathy, means a lot, especially when talking about my trusty Primastar. Thanks for sharing the cost as well. It does look like a bit of a hit at first, but when I think about it as an investment, it totally makes sense. I'm relieved to hear you haven't run into any more surprises, fingers crossed I'll experience the same! Your experience has been super helpful and it's definitely eased my nerves a bit. Time to face the music and dial up my mechanical genius. I'll be sure to keep you posted on how it goes. Thanks for all your help! Take care!
