2008 Kia Pro Ceed Electrical Issues: Battery Weakness, Flickering Lights, and Terminal 30 Concerns

Hey! I'm having a bit of a problem with my 2008 Kia Pro Ceed (Gasoline, 49686KM). I'm seeing all sorts of weird stuff - general electric issues, dim lights that flicker, weak battery on starts, and even the car's diagnostic system is flagging up an error. I reckon it might be an issue with Terminal 30, seeing as all signs point that way. Has anyone else had this kind of trouble? What was your experience with your mechanic like? My last visit wasn't the best, so any input would be really appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Hey! I totally get your issue. I have a 2005 Kia Optima and experienced similar problems a while back. The electronics were all over the place and my starting was weaker than a kitten. Well, it turns out the root cause of my problems was indeed a defective and fully discharged battery. And you guessed it right, like your Terminal 30 suspicion, it caused some quirky glitches all through my electronics, flickering lights, and the whole nine yards. Must've been pumping out unfriendly voltages causing the car's computer to spit out errors. To fix the issue, it was just a straightforward battery replacement at the garage. No biggie, honestly. They checked the alternator and the cables before slapping in a new battery. After that? Smooth sailing. So, it seems like some common gremlin we Kia have to handle but it's nothing too serious once you know what you are up against. Hope this helps and good luck. Cheers!

Hey there, cheers for the input! You've pretty much nailed my issue with your past experience. Looks like this electric gremlin is quite a common haunt for us Kia dependable. Glad it was a simple battery replacement for you. Would you recall roughly what you ended up shelling out at the garage for that fix? Also, just curious, have you run into any additional electric quirks after sorting out the battery?

Hiya, glad my past problem with the Kia could shed some light on your situation. To sort out the battery conundrum, I had to part ways with 290.00 €, which covered the expenses of a new battery and labor charges. I have to say, it's the best money I've spent in a while. My car's running like a charm ever since, with not a single flicker to moan about. Take this piece of experience, though; after the battery ordeal, I thought I was free as a bird from the electric boogeyman. But then something else popped up - that Terminal 30 problem you mentioned earlier back to haunt me, but a quick trip down mechanic's alley booked that bug a one-way ticket out of my Kia. So, these gremlins can be a bit of a whack-a-mole game, it seems. But ever since the Terminal 30 was sorted, it’s been smooth sailing indeed! Kept the electric quirkiness at bay and has been doing some good miles! Hang in there and hope you find your fix soon! Cheers!

Oi really appreciate the swift response and your own journey with those electric gremlins. Gives me a decent idea of what I might have to cough up in the mechanic's hands. And also a heads up that a new battery might not be my last battle with the electric blues. But hey, that's the charm of owning a robust piece like Kia, right? Always keeps you on the toes. I'm now a bit more prepared for my upcoming visit to the garage. Might even throw a preemptive jab at that Terminal 30 gremlin while I'm at it. Reckon it'll save me a possible future hassle. Thanks again for the guidance. Appreciate the solidarity of a fellow Kia owner. Drive on and stay safe. Cheers!
