2010 Volvo C70: Insufficient AC Cooling and Potential Ambient Temperature Sensor Issues
(Translated from German)
Summary of the thread
A 2010 Volvo C70 is experiencing insufficient AC cooling and heating issues, suspected to be caused by a malfunctioning ambient temperature sensor. A similar issue in a 2013 Volvo S60 was resolved by replacing a faulty sensor cable or plug connection, which restored normal AC and heating functions. The suggested solution is to have a mechanic check and possibly replace the sensor connection, which is a relatively straightforward and cost-effective fix.

Hey, appreciate the quick response! Your experience with your S60 gave me some relief - fingers crossed it's not something more serious. Just curious, do you recall how much you had to fork out to get this fixed? Also, did anything else come up during or after they sorted out your AC? Cheers!

Hey there! So, on the money part, it cost me about 95 Euro to fix the cable or plug connection from the sensor. It wasn't too heavy on the pocket. And about anything else coming up, well, nothing really. I remember though, once the mechanic had sorted out the incorrect signal from the ambient temperature sensor, everything was back on track. The AC started cooling as it should, and the heating functions got back to normal as well. So, no more surprises there! Cheers!

Brilliant! Appreciate the info. The cost and the work involved sound reasonable enough. Nice to know that the fix did the trick for your AC and heating without further issues. You've given me both hope and direction. I'll have a chat about this with a different mechanic this time and see if we can’t troubleshoot the problem. Can't thank you enough! Cheers!

Hey, had a similar wonky AC situation with my 2013 Volvo S60 not too long ago. The culprit was indeed a faulty sensor connection. My mechanic found that the ambient temperature sensor's cable/plug connection was off and had to be replaced which in itself wasn't a heavy task. But you gotta remember, this little issue can put a lot of things out of sync in your car's system. The only headache was the troubleshooting part, finding out whether the issue was in the sensor or the cable/connection took a fair bit of time. So yeah, brace yourself for that. Nothing catastrophic though, your car should be back to normal once they sort it out. Hope this helps! Cheers.
