2011 Hyundai i10 Gas Model Cruise Control Troubles: Seeking Advice and Experiences

Hey everyone, I need some help with my 2011 Hyundai i10 gas engine model, which has logged about 71,058 KM so far. Lately, my cruise control's gone bust and the fault light's been on too. I'm guessing they're connected, but I'm no expert. The last time I went to the mechanic wasn't exactly a nice trip. Any of you guys dealt with something similar? What was your experience with your mechanic like? Looking forward to your responses. Cheers.

Summary of the thread

A 2011 Hyundai i10 owner is experiencing issues with the cruise control and a fault light, suspecting a connection between the two. A similar case with a 2014 Hyundai i20 involved a defective cable connection to the speed sensor, which was resolved by replacing the worn-out cable. The suggested solution is to have a mechanic perform a diagnostic check to identify and fix any faulty connections, likely restoring the cruise control functionality.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Hey there, I had a similar issue with my 2014 Hyundai i20. My check engine light was constantly on, and it was related to the cruise control system as well. Turns out, the problem was a defective cable connection to my speed sensor. It wasn't a complicated thing, but it surely was frustrating. I drove in and the mechanic ran some diagnostic tests. After figuring out the sensor was okay, he found that the cable connecting it was the culprit. Apparently, the cable got worn out over time due to the heat and vibration. I had to wait a bit while they replaced it. This isn't a trivial matter because without the correct speed data, the cruise control system and other control systems wouldn't function properly. Thankfully, it got sorted that day itself at the garage. So, I'd suggest you take your vehicle to your trusted garage for a thorough check-up. Don't worry too much - these things happen. Best of luck! Cheers.

Hey, appreciate the input. I was suspecting something along those lines too. Good to know it wasn't a complex repair for you. Do you recall roughly the amount you shelled out for fixing it? Also, since that repair, have you noticed any other issues popping up, related or not? Just trying to get a sense of what the road ahead might look like! Cheers!

Hey there again! Yep, definitively the cruise control's gotten back in game since the mechanic fixed it for me - no issues there anymore. Touch wood! The mechanic charged me €155.00 to get that cable connection to the sensor sorted out. Haven't experienced any other related problems or surprises since then. So, it seems like a good bet you'll be breezing down the road again in no time. Just one of those car owner things, right? Hope that eases your mind a bit! Take care! Cheers!

Hey! Thank you for sharing that - quite a relief to know it didn't spark further issues for you. €155.00 seems perfectly fine in return for a smooth ride. Your information has certainly given me a clearer idea of what's ahead, and a bit more peace of mind too. I'll get my Hyundai to the garage and hopefully, it'll be up and cruising in no time! It surely is just one of those car owner things, right? haha. I'll put an update here after it gets sorted. Thanks again! Cheers!
